‘Knowledge itself is power’
The Calvert Forum was an international project for exploring creative industries in countries around the globe, and for developing the creative economy in Russia.
The project’s aim was to decide what role the creative industry should play in the development of Russia’s regions, and to produce recommendations on providing a favorable environment for creative initiatives.
In September 2013, an International Conference was held and launched the Calvert Forum in Russia. The Calvert Forum was led by British nonprofit foundation Calvert-22 and St. Petersburg State University’s Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences, with participation from the State Hermitage Museum and the Leontief Center.
The project took place in the State Hermitage Museum building in the form of a public discussion entitled ‘Creative industries: who will build Russia’s new economy?’
We organized the conference and the forum’s opening night.
